The Prime Minister of India started his career as a tea seller in Vadnagar, India. His political ascent was the result of working his through the BJP party ranks. First, a Political Science degree from Delhi University in 1978, followed by a Master's degree from Gujarat University in 1983 - all completed online! Modi is the current Prime Minister of India. Nelson Mandela was the first democratically elected president in South Africa, a position he fought long and hard for as an anti-apartheid activist, political leader, and community builder. He was jailed in 1962 and incarcerated for 27 years before being released in 1990 by President F. W. de Klerk. Mandela didn’t let his time in prison hold him back; he continued to fight and raise international awareness of the political conditions in South Africa. Towards the end of his sentence, Mandela even managed to complete a Bachelor’s in Law from the University of London’s External Degree Program, graduating in 1989. Mandela died on 5 December 2013. He continues to be a symbol of peace and racial equality around the world.

Irene Muloni is a Ugandan politician and businesswoman. She is currently the Senior Presidential Advisor to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and former Cabinet Minister for Energy and Minerals. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.

Nicole Malachowski was the first female pilot selected to fly as part of the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron, better known as the Thunderbirds. Before joining the Thunderbirds Malachowski completed deployments in the UK, Korea, and Iraq. She is highly educated gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, with a minor in French, from the United States Air Force Academy, and completing an online Masters of Arts from the American Military University. She also later graduated with a Masters of National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. Malachowski retired in 2017 and now works as an inspirational public speaker.

Luisa Diogo was the Prime Minister of Mozambique from 2004–2010. A member of the FRELIMO party, she pushed a successful agenda of gender equality and women’s empowerment during her six years in office. Bono famously described the world leader as having "the lioness energy of an Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, a Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala or a Graça Machel."

While not a household name around the world General Deepak Kapoor, India’s former Chief of Army, is a good example of how online education can help you change careers. Kapoor retired from public service in 2010 but continues to be a political commentator.

Yasser Harrack is a Canadian writer, commentator, and founder of the Middle East Seminar forum. He promotes an agenda of religious freedom and the separation of faith and the state. His work has been published widely in both English and Arabic as well as translated into many other languages. He holds a degree in Political Science and Religion in addition to a graduate certificate in Middle Eastern Studies from the online American Public University System's School of Security and Global Studies. Harrack’s activism was recognized by Morocco’s largest newspaper in 2013 when it named the author one a minority star.
